Named by National Geographic as one of the top 20 hikes in the world, this trek offers 3 days of hiking/camping through the magnificent Salkantay snow-capped mountains and 1 day exploring Machu Picchu. This is an alternate route to Machu Picchu which offers quieter campsites and fewer travelers than the Inca Trail Trek. You will pass through tropical valleys, past crystal blue lakes, and over imposing mountain passes. The views are stunning as you pass glacier-covered mountains such as Salkantay (6,275m/20,576ft), and the nighttime sky is filled with thousands of stars. The trek will end with a visit to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu.

After a guided walking tour in this spectacular, ancient city of the Incas, you are able to explore the mysterious city by yourselves. If you wish, you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m/8890ft) for a spectacular view of the ruins. This costs an extra $45 USD and you will need to book online at least a couple of months before your visit to get a coveted permit.
